DIY PROJECT // NUTCRACKER COSTUME

Using my existing military blazer, I recreated a nutcracker outfit using duck tapes, Glitter tapes and some Christmas decor strings.

I used felt fabric (to cover the cardboards) and tassels- for my shoulder pads.

For the boots, im wearing a normal boots, but I exaggerated the height of it by covering it with scrap faux leather, I just punched some holes and used the same christmas string that i used on the blazer.

For the Hat, I shaped art board and covered it with tinsels

So there you have it! Instant Nutcracker Costume!

Hey Guys, Hope you all enjoyed your Holidays and your New Year's Day Celebrations.

This look was a costume I DIY-ed  for our Christmas Party last December. Using my existing military Jacket as base, I had to come up with ways to liven it up, since it's too plain- Dark Blue. I had to make it more Festive or Christmassy for that matter. Since I used Duct/ Duck Tapes last Halloween for my Manolo (Book of Life) Costume, I thought why not use the same thing as well. I didn't manage to find bright red and blue duct tapes but luckily, since its Christmas time, Dollar stores sells a lot of Christmas craft materials and decors. They were selling sticker tapes in Glittery red and blue- Just what I needed... so that's what I used to create the details of the blazers. It was so fun and easy to do! I really enjoyed It! The best part, I won 1st Prize (BEST IN COSTUME) Wohooo!!!

GET THE HALLOWEEN LOOK // MANOLO, THE BOOK OF LIFE

Right after last year's (2013) Halloween, Ive been keeping an eye on what my Halloween costume's gonna be this 2014. So when I saw the Animated movie trailer of THE BOOK of LIFE, I knew right away that it's gonna be my next Halloween costume. Ever since i saw that movie trailer, Ive been thinking at the back of my mind how am I gonna do it, coz the Manolo character there looks too boxy. To give you a better idea,... and in case you have seen the movie until now, here's Manolo, the inspiration of this Halloween costume.

So, up to the last minute I didnt know how to do it...whether I should use boxes and construct the upper body from that, which is gonna be time consuming, given the fact that 2 days after is Halloween already. So i opted to using real clothes, only problem is Manolo's outfit is too intricate, and sewing all those details will take me forever. hahaha. So being the boy scout that I am, I thought of using Gold Tape, hoping there are such available tapes out there. Luckily, DUCT TAPE, has been making a lot of different colors and designs lately, so I manage to find 2 rolls of Gold duct tape.

Check out the DYI costume I did using duct tape for the details, taped unto my normal Blazer, Vest, and pants.

I thrifted the Mariachi Hat at a local vintage shop here, so I decided to wear it with this costume too, since they go together well.

GET THE HALLOWEEN LOOK: SUICIDAL TIE

I love costume parties, that's why i love Halloween. At this time of the year, Lookbook.nu always hosts a contest called the Spookbook... And for the 2nd year straight, this contest is being sponsored by BLACKMILK CLOTHING.This is gonna be my 3rd time joining this contest. This year, I created two Halloween looks. In this look, I wanted to dress formal with a spooky vibe, so i just DIY-ed my Tie from a rope to make it look like a suicide rope. I asked my friend to go with me at the nearest cemetery to shoot this look to add more drama. 'Had to make real quick though, we dont want to disturb or disrespect the dead.

DIY PROJECT: FLORAL SHOES

Anything Floral is a hit this season. I bought quite a lot of floral items--shirts, shorts, tees... but one thing i don't have are floral shoes. I find a bit difficult to get a more fitting design to match my other floral items, plus it's a bit pricey... So i just thought of customizing my own!!!

I bought a $14 pair of shoes from H&M and hand-painted them using an all-purpose acrylic paint.

Here's the result:

DIY PROJECT: EYEWEAR HOLDER

Over the years, I've collected quite a lot of eye wears... storage has been an issue for me.

I usually put it in my cabinet drawers but I don't get to wear some of it which are usually being covered by the ones on top. Some of it have scratches already since not every piece has it's own case. Arrrgh!!!

So I thought of a way to store it in a way that I can view everything together then choose. I also wanted it to become a featured wall decor without having to spend much on money and time doing it. 

Here's what i came up with... It's so simple to make. All you need is a pre-cut wood plank about 2" x 1/2" x 6', a wood glue and wooden clothes hanger clips. Go ahead, make your own!!! :)

MAD HATTER

This look was actually a look I did when we had a Mad Hatter Themed Party last Christmas Holiday.

(I know, I really to get my ass to blog more often!)

The hat was made by me, of course,  from scratch using Christmas Decors from a Dollar shop. There's gonna be a prize for the Best Hat so I had to keep my creative juice flowing. 

Luckily i was one of the Best in hat that night. Yay!!!

The was an Ice Storm the next day and absolutely turned our place into a winter wonderland. I knew had to snap this look right away in these amazing back draft. It looks so Magical!
